Day 1 - Arrival in Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania! Your private guide greets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfers you to your comfortable lodge or hotel in Arusha or Moshi, where you can rest and prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2 - Rest & Briefing Day

After your travels, take today to relax and adjust to your new surroundings. In the afternoon, your Genes Adventures guide will visit for a detailed briefing about your upcoming Kilimanjaro climb.

Day 3

After breakfast, head to Marangu Gate where your guide arranges permits as you enjoy coffee or tea. Trek into the lush rainforest, rich in wildlife and exotic plants. After about 4 hours, reach Mandara Hut. In the afternoon, visit Maundi Crater for sweeping views over Kenya’s plains.

Day 4

Ascend beyond the timberline into dramatic Alpine moorlands. Cross open landscapes with stunning views of Mawenzi's rugged peaks. Today's hike is 4–7 hours over 14 km, at a relaxed pace with frequent breaks. Take in the fresh mountain air before reaching the welcoming Horombo Hut.

Day 5

Today is dedicated to acclimatization. After breakfast, take a short hike towards Mawenzi Ridge (approx. 3–4 hours round trip). This excursion enhances your chances of a successful summit by helping your body adapt to the altitude. Return to Horombo Hut for a restful afternoon and evening.

Day 6

Fuel up with breakfast before trekking across the otherworldly "saddle" linking Kibo and Mawenzi. This surreal landscape marks your 5–6 hour journey to Kibo Hut, perched at 4,700 meters. Rest early tonight—you’ll need your energy for the final ascent to Africa’s highest point!

Day 7

Summit Day! Begin in the dark, guided by stars and determination. Push onward to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) just in time for sunrise—a moment that will stay with you forever. After celebrating at the roof of Africa, descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned night’s rest.

Day 8

Enjoy a relaxed descent through changing landscapes, heading back to Marangu Gate. Celebrate your epic achievement with a champagne brunch hosted by Genes Adventures. After heartfelt goodbyes, transfer back to your hotel for well-deserved relaxation and memories to last a lifetime.

Day 9 - Rest Day in Arusha

Day 10 - Your Safari Begins: Tarangire National Park

Kick off your safari with a drive to Tarangire National Park, home to Tanzania’s largest elephant population. Discover a landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees, where herds of elephants roam freely and predators lurk in the tall grass. Your first game drive offers sightings of giraffes, lions, and countless antelope species. Enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views of the Tarangire River—a vital lifeline for wildlife during the dry season.

Day 11 - Tarangire’s Untamed Beauty

Rise early for a full-day safari adventure in this lesser-known gem of the northern circuit. Tarangire is not only quieter than other parks, but also incredibly rewarding—especially for birdwatchers, with over 500 bird species recorded. Explore woodlands, wetlands, and sweeping savannahs in search of lions, leopards, and massive herds of buffalo. End the day with sundowners overlooking the wilderness.

Day 12 - Maasai Culture & Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, visit a traditional Maasai boma for an authentic cultural encounter. Learn about their ancient customs, colorful dress, and proud warrior traditions. Continue to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingo-filled lake, and lush groundwater forest. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through this biodiverse park before heading to your cozy hotel/lodge/tented camp in Karatu.

Day 13 - Into the Iconic Serengeti

Today you travel to Serengeti National Park, one of the world’s most celebrated safari destinations. Along the way, witness animals roaming the open plains as you enter the heart of Africa’s wildlife kingdom. Your drive transforms into a game drive as you spot giraffes, wildebeests, and possibly big cats. Arrive at your tented safari camp and soak in the classic "Out of Africa" ambiance under a star-filled sky.

Day 14 - Full-Day Game Drive in the Serengeti

This is the Serengeti at its finest. Spend a full day tracking the Big Five and countless other species in their natural habitat. Depending on the season, you may witness part of the Great Migration—a bucket-list wildlife spectacle involving over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras. Whether it’s lions lazing in the sun, a cheetah on the hunt, or elephants bathing in a river, this is a day you’ll never forget.

Day 15 - Scenic Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a final morning in the Serengeti with a last chance to spot wildlife you haven’t yet seen. Then begin your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel across changing landscapes—from endless plains to highland forests—until you reach your lodge near the crater rim or Karatu, offering incredible sunset views.
