GENES NOLASCO SHIRIMA
FOUNDER/HEAD GUIDE
Genes Nolasco Shirima is the Founder and Head Guide of Genes Adventures. His journey on Mount Kilimanjaro began in 1993, when he started working as a porter at the age of 16.
By 2000, he had become a certified mountain guide, supported by extensive training in high-altitude safety, wilderness first aid, and professional guiding.
With decades of experience and hundreds of successful summits, Genes is known for his calm leadership, strong medical skills, and deep knowledge of Kilimanjaro’s geology, flora, and fauna. A proud husband and father of three, hiking is not just his profession—it is who he is.
GODFREY AUGUST MTUI
MOUNTAIN GUIDE
Godfrey August Mtui is a senior mountain guide at Genes Adventures with over a decade of experience on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Born in Shambarai Mererani and now based in Marangu, he progressed from porter and waiter to certified guide in 2021.
Fluent in Chagga, Swahili, and English, Godfrey is especially knowledgeable about Kilimanjaro’s birds and plant life.
Having reached the summit more than 35 times, he combines experience with a genuine passion for sharing the mountain’s natural wonders.

Simon Christopher Mtui is an experienced mountain guide at Genes Adventures, born in Moshi and based in Marangu.
With over 15 years in the tourism industry and more than 40 Kilimanjaro summits, he brings deep knowledge and steady leadership to every climb.
Fluent in Swahili and English, Simon is passionate about sharing Tanzanian culture and the natural heritage of Mount Kilimanjaro.
A devoted husband and father of six, his guiding is shaped by strong values, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to his guests.

DRIVER GUIDE
Japhet Anasael Kyara is a young and dynamic driver guide from Tanzania and a proud Chagga native, born in Moshi and now based in Arusha. He entered the tourism world as a Kilimanjaro porter (2019–2021) before working as a German-speaking translator, reflecting his strong language skills and adaptability.
After completing his studies at Mount Meru Tourism College, Japhet qualified as a professional driver guide. He specializes in Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit and is known for his enthusiasm, regional knowledge, and genuine passion for wildlife and local culture. Outside guiding, he enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and deepening his understanding of Tanzania’s national parks.
KELVIN RECHNOLD MANGOWI
MOUNTAIN GUIDE
Kelvin Rechnold Mangowi is a young and highly capable mountain guide from Moshi, Tanzania, and a proud Chagga native.
At just 27, he brings seven years of guiding experience and has already reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro more than 70 times.
Fluent in Swahili and English, Kelvin is known for his engaging storytelling, cultural insights, and love for music and singing on the mountain.
With professional training in tour and mountain guiding, first aid certification, and strong knowledge of plants and mammals, he adds energy, and depth to every journey he leads.

Godfrey William Mbwambo is an experienced mountain guide and a proud member of the Pare tribe, born and based in Moshi.
With more than 21 years in the field, he has successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro over 100 times.
Fluent in Swahili and English, Godfrey combines long-standing guiding experience with a strong interest in Kilimanjaro’s plant life and mammals.
A devoted husband and father of four, he is known for his steady presence on the mountain, solid training in tour guiding and first aid, and deep practical knowledge.

Swalehe Hassan Swalehe, also known as Swazy Shmurda, is a professional safari guide based in Tanzania, delivering safe, smooth, and memorable journeys for international travelers.
With strong knowledge of Tanzania’s wildlife, national parks, and cultural destinations, he focuses on creating well-organized and enjoyable safari experiences.

Emmanuel Justo Makupa is a Kilimanjaro guide at Genes Adventures and a proud Chagga native from Moshi.
With 17 years in the tourism industry, he has reached Uhuru Peak more than 100 times, giving him an exceptional understanding of the mountain in all conditions.
Emmanuel speaks fluent Swahili and English and is driven by a strong desire to present Tanzania’s culture and natural heritage to the world.
Married with three children, he values teamwork, safety, and lifelong learning—supported by professional qualifications in tourism, guiding, driving, and first aid.

MOUNTAIN GUIDE
Erneus Benedict Mtui is a Tanzanian mountain guide with a strong foundation in high-altitude trekking and mountaineering. He built his career through years of hands-on experience, starting as a mountain porter (2014–2020) before qualifying as a certified mountain guide in 2021.
Erneus is known for his calm leadership, strong client care, and solid understanding of mountain safety, route navigation, and team coordination. F

Joachim Sigfrid Mtui
MOUNTAIN GUIDE
Joachim Sigfrid Mtui is an experienced mountain guide from Marangu, Tanzania, with a lifelong connection to Mount Kilimanjaro. Born in 1987, he began his career on the mountain as a porter in 2007 and qualified as a licensed mountain guide in 2012.
With over 14 years of hands-on experience, Joachim has guided both local and international climbers across Kilimanjaro’s routes, always prioritizing safety, health, and client comfort.
Fluent in Swahili and proficient in English, he is known for his calm leadership, strong route knowledge, and disciplined, trustworthy approach. Married and a father of three, he takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality mountain experiences.
