Rubondo Island National Park

Rubondo Island National Park is one of Tanzania’s most remote and enchanting wilderness destinations. Located in the southwestern corner of Lake Victoria, the park feels wonderfully untouched, offering a rare sense of peace and isolation.

Dominated by dense forests and surrounded by water, Rubondo is home to a fascinating mix of wildlife, including forest elephants, sitatunga antelope, chimpanzees and abundant birdlife.

With no mass tourism and a strong focus on conservation, the park delivers an intimate and tranquil nature experience. Ideal for travelers seeking solitude, slow exploration and something truly off the beaten path.

The wetter months (November to May) transform the island into a vibrant green sanctuary, ideal for birdwatching and photographing dramatic storms over the lake.
