Katavi National Park

Katavi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most remote and least-visited safari destinations, offering an exceptionally raw and untamed wilderness experience.

Its vast floodplains and seasonal rivers create dramatic wildlife scenes far removed from the classic safari circuit.

Katavi is famous for enormous herds of buffalo, some of Africa’s largest crocodiles and hippos, and a high concentration of predators including lions and leopards.

With very few visitors and minimal infrastructure, the park delivers a powerful sense of solitude and adventure.

A perfect choice for experienced safari lovers seeking pure, unspoiled Africa.

best time to visit

The dry season (June to October) is the best time to visit, as animals concentrate around the remaining water sources.

The green season is more challenging but offers dramatic scenery and fewer visitors.

climate & landscape

Katavi has a hot, dry climate for much of the year.

Its landscapes include open floodplains, seasonal lakes, woodland, and dense riverine forests.

The park’s remoteness enhances its wild and pristine character.
