Mandatory Travel Insurance
for Zanzibar Visitors
Effective October 1, 2024, all travelers to Zanzibar are required to purchase a local travel insurance policy through the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. This regulation applies to every visitor, even if they already hold an international travel insurance policy. Entry may be denied upon arrival if proof of this specific insurance is not provided.
Important Information About the Insurance

The cost of the travel insurance is US$44 per adult

Children aged 3 to 17 receive a 50% discount, and infants (0–2 years) are insured free of charge

The insurance is valid for a period of 92 days

It must be purchased online before arriving in Zanzibar (see link below)

Applications can be made individually, for families (3 to 9 people), or for larger groups (10 or more travelers)
